AMSOIL Synthetic Marine Gear Lube is SAE 75W/80W-90 and replaces AMSOIL 75W-90 and 80W-90 gear lubes. AMSOIL Synthetic Marine Gear Lube performs in all outboard lower units, V-drives, bow and tunnel thrusters and marine transmissions that require 75W-90 or 80W-90 and meet GL-4 or GL-5 specifications. Because it is specifically marine formulated, it protects against rust and is compatible with aluminum, copper and brass alloys. Superior Formulation
AMSOIL Synthetic Marine Gear Lube is an extreme pressure lubricant that provides superior protection from shock loading caused by propeller cavitation. Cavitation is common in high horsepower, high torque applications, and occurs when the propeller spins too quickly mixing air with water and losing traction which causes vibration, noise and lower unit shock loading.
Maximum Protection
A major concern for marine gear lubes is water contamination. Water contamination can reduce the oil’s ability to protect the gears under load and can cause foaming that diminishes the lubricating film and causes increased wear. Without proper oil film, rust and corrosion occur. AMSOIL Synthetic Marine Gear Lube is water resistant and non-foaming. It maintains full lube film for optimum lubrication, and retains extreme pressure protection even when subjected to 10 percent water contamination.
